La Jetée

It was interesting to watch La Jetée and Toute la Memoire du Monde within a few days of each other. I liked the fact that La Jetée used narration and juxtaposition to create the forward motion of a story told in stills. In Toute la Memoire du Monde, the first five minutes or so of the film gives us scenes that could also be stills – there is very little action. Here, the movement comes from the camera itself, which is constantly panning and tracking.
